External factors such as sun, sea, aircon or pollution prolonged exposure can affect your hair's health. Arkopharma reveals its secrets to restore and enhance your hair's natural beauty.

Our volume ritual

When dressing your hair to form a ponytail or a bun, you can gently crimp your roots. Then hold using lacquer.

Drying. Remove the end piece from the dryer to better distribute the warm air, then hold your head downwards when blow-drying your hair. Detach the roots by rubbing them with your fingers in the direction opposite to growth. Let your hair cool down for a few seconds before lifting your head back up again. In this way, it will hold better. If your hair-dryer allows it, finish off with a short blast of cool air.

Hair care. Dip your comb in a small cup of beer before combing your hair. Once it is spread throughout your hair, leave to dry and then rinse. The result is fantastic!

Our shine ritual

Use a large-toothed comb, especially if your hair is still wet, and avoid intensive brushing. Forget the myth that recommends 100 brush strokes every evening in order to have beautiful hair.

Drying. To avoid damaging the scales, limit the exposure of your hair to heat by leaving it to dry naturally until it is just slightly damp, then use heated appliances to shape your hair as it dries out completely. If you use a hair-dryer, remember to hold it between 10 and 15 centimetres from your hair.

Hair care. Dilute three drops of Ylang-ylang essential oil in six tablespoons of sunflower seed oil. Apply to the hair with a make-up brush. Cover with plastic film. Leave to rest for 1 hour. Wash with a gentle shampoo, then rinse.

Our strength ritual

First and foremost, choose a shampoo that does not leave your hair too greasy or too dry. Opt for a gentle formula that respects the pH of your scalp while hydrating and softening the hair fibre.

Hair cleaning. Do not apply too much shampoo and avoid washing your hair twice, as this will needlessly make the scalp more sensitive.

Hair care. Mix the following essential oils: 5 ml of cedarwood oil, 3 ml of lavender oil, 5 ml of sage oil and 30 ml of plant oil, such as almond oil. Apply this lotion to your hair and massage gently. Leave for a few hours, or even all night. When you wake up, wash your hair as usual. You can repeat this treatment about three times a week.

Our suppleness ritual

Lean your head forwards, then brush your hair from the neck to the forehead. Then from the sides to the top of your head and finally brush back from the forehead to the neck.

Drying. After taking a shower, use a cotton or microfibre towel. Press your hair rather than rubbing it. To create a glamorous and natural effect, once your hair is dry or just slightly damp, add movement with a round hairbrush and a hair-dryer set to medium power. Finish by blow-drying with cool air.

Hair care, Mix one egg yolk with a cup of oil of your choosing, or a mixture of several oils, and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Whip the mixture thoroughly.

Apply in generous quantities throughout damp or dry hair and spread evenly by massaging. Leave for 15 minutes, preferably under a hot towel or a plastic cap. Wash with shampoo as usual. Finish with a quick rinse in cold water to close the scales.

Our softness ritual

For a guaranteed soft effect, replace your cotton pillowcases with silk or satin ones. Cotton tends to snag the scales of your hair, while they just slide over silk or satin.

Drying. If you do not leave your hair to dry naturally, finish drying with the hair-dryer at the lowest “heat” and “blow” settings, or stop when your hair is three-quarters dry to avoid dehydrating it and to keep its shine.
If you like blow-drying, pre-dry your hair before styling with the brush.

Hair care. Treat your hair to a weekly oil bath. Don’t worry, this will not leave your hair looking greasy. Apply coconut oil to your hair strand by strand, and especially to any dry ends. Leave for at least 1 hour, or all night. In this case, remember to protect your pillowcase with a towel.

Our beauty ritual

If we consider our hair to be an integral part of our personality, then it is the anatomic feature that allows us to express ourselves most easily.

It is much easier to cut or dye our hair, or to change our hairstyle to reflect our moods and desires, than it is to smooth out our wrinkles... Hairstyles can express a woman’s different facets: sober styling for the office, waves for the weekend, a wet look after a swim or a spectacular bun for a dinner party. In fact, many stars have made a mark on the history of hair fashion with their own hairstyles

Hair care. Let’s take a trip to India. The secret behind Indian women’s beautiful hair consists of mixing one dose of Amla powder (a tree whose fruit is used in traditional Indian medicine, or Ayurveda) with three doses of Shikakai, a small shrub whose pods are used in hair care. Add a sufficient quantity of hot water, preferably mineral, to form a paste that is not too runny. Apply to your hair like shampoo and leave for no more than 3 to 5 minutes. Thoroughly rinse out all the residue from your hair and do not use a shampoo. For a perfect result, rinse again in cold water to close the scales, and repeat once a week for one month.

If you have blond or light brown hair, highlights may appear after the treatment, but they will disappear after drying.

For curly hair. Comb briefly with a little coconut oil to form your curls again.

Our vitality ritual

It takes time to care for and protect your hair. Remember to drink plenty and follow a balanced diet rich in vitamins, amino acids, minerals and trace elements.

Massaging your scalp stimulates micro-circulation. The best time to massage your scalp is when you are taking a shower. Once your hair is wet and you have applied the shampoo, massage your scalp for 1 minute, making firm, circular movements that draw the skin towards the centre of your head.
If you don’t have the time for a massage when showering, you can also massage dry hair for 1 to 2 minutes, for example when watching TV. Work with your fingertips or the palms of your hands to raise the scalp, and position your thumbs on the sides of your head to define a central axis.

Hair care. Mix between one-half and a whole avocado (depending on the mass of hair and the size of the avocado) with one whole egg yolk and one tablespoon of vegetable oil. Apply to your hair. Wrap your hair in a hot towel, cling film or silver foil. Leave for 15 to 30 minutes. Rinse and wash with shampoo.
