The
answer to excess cholesterol...
Heredity, an excessively rich diet, sedentariness... the factors that tip us into hypercholesterolemia are legion.
While dietary measures are needed to combat excess cholesterol, another ally provides effective action: phytosterols.
Phytosterols are natural structures close to human cholesterol that are found in many plants and especially in vegetable oils (maize, soya, walnut, sesame). They act by opposing intestinal absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol. Phytosterols’ hypocholesterolemic properties have been demonstrated in many studies, which is why they have been recognised by the FDA (the American Food and Drug Administration).
More and more scientific data suggest that taking about 0.8 g of natural phytosterols per day, combined with a diet low in saturated fats and cholesterol, brings about a significant reduction in total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol in the blood. The FDA has also recognised that reduced cholesterol is directly correlated with a decrease in cardiovascular risk.
These findings
prompted the launch of Bakol capsules, a product
based on natural phytosterols and vitamin E.
